Hook Studios
Hook Studios, a professional audio production facility in Redditch, required two acoustically optimised mix rooms to enhance their production capabilities. The aim was to create high-quality, accurate listening environments for music production and mixing, while also maintaining a clean, visually appealing design. This project involved room design (including 3D models), acoustic treatment design, project management, and full installation all carried out with minimal disruption to their ongoing operations.
Objectives
The primary goals for Hook Studios were to:
Build two professionally treated mix rooms with accurate sound reproduction.
Develop a visually cohesive and modern aesthetic suited to a creative studio environment.
Complete the project efficiently and without interfering with day-to-day studio activity.
Provide clear design plans and visuals so the client could approve layouts and treatments in advance.
Challenges
Delivering two fully treated mix rooms within an operational studio environment meant careful planning around Hook Studios’ schedule. Maintaining minimal disruption during construction and installation was essential, particularly as work involved timber frameworks, acoustic panel fitting, and custom fabric finishing—all processes that required time on site and multi-stage coordination.
Approach
Design and Client Collaboration
We worked closely with Hook Studios to develop the most effective layout and treatment strategy for each mix room. Our team created detailed designs and 3D visualisations that showed the acoustic plan, room configuration, and final look of the spaces. This allowed the client to provide feedback early, ensuring the final build aligned perfectly with their expectations.
Construction and Acoustic Treatment
Once approved, the build began with the construction of timber frameworks to support the acoustic treatment. We installed high-performance acoustic panels chosen for their sound absorption and diffusion qualities to meet professional audio standards. These panels were then finished with custom fabric coverings, delivering both acoustic performance and a modern, professional aesthetic.
Installation and On-Site Coordination
The installation was carried out with precision and efficiency. Acoustic materials were fitted first, followed by the tailored fabric layers that completed the rooms. Throughout the process, we worked flexibly around Hook Studios’ operations, ensuring the project remained on schedule and caused minimal disruption.
Results
The completed rooms now provide Hook Studios with two state-of-the-art mix environments suitable for professional sound mixing and music production. The acoustic treatment delivers excellent sound reproduction, while the custom fabric finishes create a polished, modern look that complements the studio’s creative atmosphere.
