Case Study: The Boat House at Aston Marina

Our partnership with Aston Marina started before they'd broken ground on the start of their project. In those early meetings, the team shared their ambitious vision for the 40-acre site: a 200-berth marina offering long and short-stay moorings, on-site services for boaters, and plans for a restaurant, shop, and wedding venue, all designed to deliver a luxury experience on the water’s edge. The wedding venue, The Boat House, was the first venue we worked on together. We knew that Aston Marina had clear plans to establish it as one of the leading wedding venues in Staffordshire and had approached us to design an audio system to bring this to life.

To do so, we knew that we wanted to base our audio system around Genelec. At the time, Genelec was a well-known name in music production circles but was just beginning to enter the AV market. From our experience, we were confident their speakers would deliver music with clarity, make speeches more intelligible and easy to hear, and perform efficiently and reliably for years to come. For Aston Marina, this meant that the investment in Genelec would pay dividends well into the future: the speakers would maintain their exceptional sound quality, require minimal maintenance, and continue to deliver a personal experience for every wedding, conference and event hosted at The Boat House. 

As the project grew, we incorporated the Genelec speakers into what would become a larger system to support wedding DJs and live events. With day to day operating in mind, we also integrated a control system that allowed The Boat House team to easily manage the sound across different zones and tailor the space for any occasion.

The system we delivered provided Aston Marina with a strong foundation to launch The Boat House with great confidence. It allowed them to host their first weddings and events and provide their guests with clear, high-quality sound to match the mood of each occasion. Importantly, the setup was designed to grow with them, giving the team the tools and training needed to manage the system easily while maintaining the high standards they set for every guest experience. 

Since then, Aston Marina has gone on to win local and national awards for both their restaurant and wedding venue. Their event offerings have grown to include comedy nights, live music, and cooking masterclasses. Throughout their journey, we have continued to supply and install audio systems, digital signage, and lighting, ensuring each new addition fulfills Aston Marina’s commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience, backed by the right equipment and training for their team.

We see The Boat House as a clear example of how valuable it can be to involve a specialist consultancy like ours from the very beginning of a project. By working alongside Aston Marina from the beginning of the project, we were able to design, supply, and install a bespoke system rather than being added in later as an afterthought. That early partnership meant every piece of equipment was carefully chosen to meet their needs both at launch and as their ambitions grew, guaranteeing that their investment continues to deliver outstanding experiences for every guest who walks through the door.
